Today John Mitchel, former Republican candidate for Ohio’s Seventh Congressional District, filed suit (Case No: 2011-CV-0114) in Greene County Common Pleas Court to remove County Prosecutor Stephen K. Haller.  Mitchel alleges Haller practiced “gross misconduct” in the manner in which he defended himself and other Greene County Republican Executive Committee members in a public records request action filed in May 2009.  Mitchel also claims that Haller conspired with an assistant prosecutor to withhold public records related to the 2003 BRAC Initiative Agreement contract between Greene County and the Dayton Development Coalition.

Newly developed Insulated Concrete Forms technology is now being used in residential construction to create more energy efficient homes. Beaver-Vu Construction, in Beavercreek,is currently building an ICF home in the Wright Cycle Estates development, just south of Xenia. 

They were once called "peace officers" because their job was to keep and encourage peace in the community; they are now called "law enforcement officers" and expect citizens to look upon them with respect, and tremble in fear when encountering them.  These are today's Police Officers here in the United States, and while they also claim to be "public servants," that seems to hardly be the case as average citizens like you and I are unable to fire them from their servant role, nor are we able to tell them to leave us alone when they intrude into our lives, or when they blatantly violate our civil rights or even State laws.  This was the case in a recent encounter I had with several Beavercreek City Police Officers.

Thank you for the invitation to comment on subject memo, “Better Buying Power: Mandate for Restoring Affordability and Productivity in Defense Spending.”  Except for a less-than-ambitious 2-3% expectation for reducing funding for unneeded or low priority overhead (read fraud, waste, abuse, corruption) in the way the Pentagon does business, I couldn’t agree more with your latest initiative to “support our forces at war on an urgent basis” and advance Secretary Gate’s mandate to be “respectful of the American taxpayer at a time of economic and fiscal distress.”  Right or wrong, the U.S. has committed its citizens to finance an expensive interventionist foreign policy which cannot be sustained without (1) bankrupting the U.S. economy or (2) drastically reducing wasteful, unneeded, and at times corrupt defense spending.

A City of Xenia councilman is now the subject of an investigation by the Greene County Prosecutor's office after what appears to have been a road-rage incident in which the councilman followed a car through city streets and eventually stopped the vehicle and displayed a silver badge to the occupants.

Monroe, OH — The prominent, six-storey high statue of Jesus, erected by the 4000 member strong Solid Rock Church located along I-75 at Route 63 in Monroe at 904 North Union Road, burned to the ground in a fire caused by a lightning strike on Monday, 14 June 2010, at around 1115 PM. Fire fighters indicated flames quickly spread from the right hand to the body and nearby cross. No injuries were reported.

Healthy Choices for Healthy Children legislation--SB 210--passed both Houses of the Ohio Legislator. The bi-partisan legislation aims to address childhood obesity. The Ohio Hospital Association also reports that more than one in three children (35.6 percent) in Ohio are overweight or obese. The bill specifically targets increased physical activity, improved nutritional options and body mass index (BMI) testing in Ohio schools. Commendable as this bill may be, its provisions like the following raise some questions:
