Insulated Concrete Forms Provides Green Building Alternative

Newly developed Insulated Concrete Forms technology is now being used in residential construction to create more energy efficient homes. Beaver-Vu Construction, in Beavercreek,is currently building an ICF home in the Wright Cycle Estates development, just south of Xenia. 

BEAVERCREEK - As traditional fossil fuel-based energy becomes more expensive, building industry innovators are exploring ways to create building technologies that are environmentally friendly, cost effective and provide multiple benefits to the occupant. As a whole, the construction industry has poured millions of dollars into research and development to come up with building techniques that meet the demands of the public while satisfying the goals of the government’s move toward green technology.

Obama Administration Ignores Small Business

The president addressed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to a lukewarm reception. His comments once again ignored the group with the most to lose in this economy - small businesses.

 

President Obama addressed the United States Chamber of Commerce this week, receiving a less than warm reception. In his speech, the president stated that American companies are sitting on about $2 trillion and encouraged business leaders to spend that money on new jobs.

Ohio SB 210 Obesity Legislation

Healthy Choices for Healthy Children legislation--SB 210--passed both Houses of the Ohio Legislator. The bi-partisan legislation aims to address childhood obesity. The Ohio Hospital Association also reports that more than one in three children (35.6 percent) in Ohio are overweight or obese. The bill specifically targets increased physical activity, improved nutritional options and body mass index (BMI) testing in Ohio schools. Commendable as this bill may be, its provisions like the following raise some questions:

Opinion: Kettering School District Targeted

The smell of a dead tax levy seems to be what political consultants are circling for, and the failed Kettering Schools levy is no different.  Less than one day after the 6.9 mil school levy failed to pass in Kettering, Paul Fallon of Fallon Research, a political consultancy firm, contacted the district leadership with a sales pitch.
