The president addressed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to a lukewarm reception. His comments once again ignored the group with the most to lose in this economy - small businesses.

 

President Obama addressed the United States Chamber of Commerce this week, receiving a less than warm reception. In his speech, the president stated that American companies are sitting on about $2 trillion and encouraged business leaders to spend that money on new jobs.

An administrative review by the Greene County Sheriff's Office was initiated after a case containing two weapons disappeared from the home of a Sheriff's deputy and a member of the SWAT team.  The case in question contained a semi automatic AR-15 and an automatic HK MP-5, which were both the property of the Greene County Sheriff's Office.

Xenia City Council & The Maimi Valley Regianol Planning Commission approves $168,744 to Design Bike Trail Connector Tunnel.

Xenia, Ohio - On August 26, 2010, The City of Xenia Council voted on an emergency resolution, approving a $21,744 increase in project cost to design a tunnel. The Title of the Ordinance was

“An Emergency Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to enter into a Change Order with LJB, Inc. for the Jamestown Connector Tunnel Design and establish a new Not-to-Exceed Amount.”

Healthy Choices for Healthy Children legislation--SB 210--passed both Houses of the Ohio Legislator. The bi-partisan legislation aims to address childhood obesity. The Ohio Hospital Association also reports that more than one in three children (35.6 percent) in Ohio are overweight or obese. The bill specifically targets increased physical activity, improved nutritional options and body mass index (BMI) testing in Ohio schools. Commendable as this bill may be, its provisions like the following raise some questions:

The smell of a dead tax levy seems to be what political consultants are circling for, and the failed Kettering Schools levy is no different.  Less than one day after the 6.9 mil school levy failed to pass in Kettering, Paul Fallon of Fallon Research, a political consultancy firm, contacted the district leadership with a sales pitch.

Propaganda artists Jack Torry and John Nolan couldn’t have written a more one-sided piece on the recent Pentagon announcement that the MQ-1 Predator aircraft is on its way to the Springfield Air National Guard.  This article is nothing more than stroking whiny politicians from both parties looking for top cover as the November election approaches.

In the aftermath of the failure of Issue 7 in Xenia, some troubling details and statements have been brought to light by individuals seemingly affiliated with the Xenia Fire Division and the  IAFF Local 698, and these statements, which could be labeled even as subtle threats are found to be disturbing by local area residents.  Issue 7, was to be an increase of 0.5% in income taxes for Xenia residents. IAFF is a member of AFL-CIO, the largest labor union conglomerate in the United States.
